Hi Jarrell,
Have you done any installs of the Air Tap Heat Pumps, and what do you reccomend for an electric storage tank replacement. I have a Reliance 501 still working, but I am looking to change It this year. Its dated a 1998.

Thanks Again
Great Website

I’m looking for a plumber/technician who can trouble shoot our 2 month old Rheem 75 gallon LP (propane gas) water heater.

Last night started turning off, after being turned on, after 10 minutes.

Live in Norwalk.

Thanks.

Chris

3 HP-50 link February 26, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Sorry for the delay. I have not myself, and after asking a bunch of other plumbers over the past couple weeks I couldn’t find anyone that had either. When I first read, and wrote all about the Aiptap, it’s sounded awesome, at 700 bucks, (and it qualifies for 400 back in tax credits) Even without installing one I give it my endorsement. However if you’re looking for replace your storage tank also, and like the idea of a heat pump system you should consider the Rheem HP-50. It’s a 50 gallon storage tank, with a heat pump integrated into the tank. It also has electric heating elements like a traditional electric water heater so you’re covered in the winter. In ideal conditions (places 55 degrees or warmer) the Rheem HP-50 barely uses any energy, and creates more hot water that traditional electric water heaters. It has a 2.0 efficiency, which basically means it awesome for the environment, and your wallet. It also qualifies for the 1500 tax credit. Best regards.
